UTAS wins $5 million in funding

University of Tasmania Vice-Chancellor Professor Daryl Le Grew today welcomed $5 million of funding awarded to the University.

Morris Miller21 Universities received funding and UTAS was one of only two institutions to receive two grants, with $3 million allocated to the development of the Launceston Clinical School and $2 million for the Morris Miller Library Redevelopment (Stage 2).

Professor Le Grew said these funds will allow the University of Tasmania to improve student experiences and education outcomes with the development of first-class facilities.

“It is especially important that we continue to grow our University to retain our brightest students and to attract students from Australia and internationally,” he said.

The funding comes from the Federal Government’s $71.5 million Capital Development Pool (CDP) program.

The CDP program aims to facilitate development that will enable universities to expand provision of courses in areas of national importance, improve vital teaching and learning facilities, and student amenities.
