Final commercialisation workshop for 2009
UTAS researchers looking to leverage more funding for their research or commercialisation projects through industry partners would benefit from attending a free commercialisation skills workshop on November 5.
The UTAS Research Office Commercialisation Unit’s final commercialisation skills workshop for 2009 will be lead by internationally successful entrepreneur and academic, Matthew Michalewicz.
The Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry workshop focuses on the core concepts and factors that can help researchers drive better academic and commercial outcomes from their research efforts.
This half day course will provide researchers with an understanding of the difficulties of turning research into commercial outcomes, and practical tips, ideas, and advice to address them.

Presenter
Matthew Michalewicz is a serial entrepreneur with more than 15 years of hands on experience in starting, running, and exiting high-growth companies. He is currently the CEO of SolveIT Software, an Australian company specialising in enterprise software solutions for supply & demand optimisation. Prior to moving to Australia in 2004, he served as CEO of a high-tech company in the United States for which he raised $15 million in venture capital and grew to more than 150 employees in 6 international offices.
