Commercialisation seed fund
Six grants worth up to $5000 each are on offer in the inaugural UTAS Commercialisation Seed Fund.
The UTAS Commercialisation Seed Fund has been formed to help UTAS academics and researchers commercialise intellectual property created as a result of their work at UTAS.
Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Professor Jo Laybourn-Parry, said the new fund specifically targets the gap between the R&D phase and creating a product, process or service ready for the market.
“Examples of the types of activities eligible under the UTAS Commercialisation Seed Fund would be the building of an e-commerce site, completion of a prototype for sales, participation in a trade convention or attending meetings with angel investors or venture capitalists,” she said.
In this inaugural round, six grants will be offered up to a maximum of $5000 each. Details on the fund, guidelines for eligibility and an application form can be found at; http://www.research.utas.edu.au/rocu/researchers_index.htm.
The first funding round opens on the 21 October, 2009 and closes on 4 November, 2009.
Successful applicants will be notified by 4 December, 2009.
The Research Office Commercialisation Unit (ROCU) will be managing the application stage of the UCSF scheme and is available to assist you with questions regarding your application.
