Antarctica - the cultural challenge
A series of free public lectures celebrating Antarctica have been organised by the UTAS School of History and Classics.
This year marks the centenary of the 1907-1909 British Antarctic Expedition to reach the South Pole and it is also 50 years since the signing of the Antarctic Treaty.
The three lectures will explore Australia’s connection to Antarctica and in particular the way in which the humanities and arts provide visions of this connection.
